Kano Govt. to work with NGE on media empowerment

Kano, Kano State Government has reiterated its commitment to work with the Nigeria Guild of Editors (NGE) to empower media organizations for optimal performances in the state.
This is contained in a statement issued by Sani Abba Yola, Director Special Duties, Ministry of Information Kano, on Saturday in Kano.
The state Commissioner for Information, Baba Dantiye disclosed this while receiving members of the Kano-Jigawa states Forum of the guild who visited him in his office.
Dantiye said media organizations were critical stakeholders in progress, considering their role in creating job opportunities for the teeming youths which helps in reducing the menace of unemployment.
The commissioner, who was two term President NGE, explained that government would support both public and private media organizations through training and retraining for professional efficiency.
The Commissioner, who thanked the NGE members for their solidarity and show of love on his appointment, promised to continue to strengthen the existing cordial relationship between them and the government for the benefit of the people.
Earlier, the Chairman, Nigeria Guild of Editors, Kano-Jigawa states Forum, Dr. Sule Ya’u Sule, said the visit was to reaffirm their solidarity and support to one of their own over his recent appointment as the Commissioner for information.
Dr. Sule stated that appointment of Dantiye brought them joy because he was a seasoned journalist who would use his wealth of experience to bring about positive changes in the state.
The Chairman prayed to Almighty Allah to continue to protect and guide him to succeed in steering the affairs of the Ministry. (
