SON, Technoserve train Vegetable oil millers on fortification process

Kano, Adequate Enlightenment on vegetable oil fortification for vegetable oil millers has been described as very critical for the improvement of good health life of pregnant women , infants and the general populace.
The Regional Director Standard organization of Nigeria Mr Albert Wilberforce disclosed this during a sensitization program organized by SON in collaboration with Technoserve for the vegetable oil millers in Kano.
He said the sensitization program was aimed at training the vegetable oil on fortification of vegetable oil which is a critical requirement of the world health organization , food and agricultural organisation, the standard organization of Nigeria .
“it is a critical requirement especially at is concern the health of children and pregnant women , especially their vision (sight )lack vitamin A in sugar, flour , salt and oil caused a lot of negative impact on their lives , it affects their sight and other health challenges.”
Wilberforce maintained lack of vitamin A fortification in what people consume resulted to high increase of people with blindness disability.
In a remark a food fortification specialist Technoserve Mr Olusola Sowunme said the objectives of the sensitization was to enlightened oil processors in northern Nigeria , with the aim of achieving the stated objectives.
Some of the participants who spoke to journalist applauded the commitment of SON and foresight for organizing the training.
