Niger Govt Assures Payment of Salaries As Required this Week

The state Commissioner of Finance Alhaji Usman Mohammed Tinau has reiterated the commitment of the Niger state government in ensuring payment of civil servants salaries despite short falls experienced from the statutory federation account.

Alhaji Usman Tinau made this known in an exclusive interview with Prestige FM in Minna, assuring to commence payment of March salaries this week and appealed to workers to exercise patient.

He maintained that the FAAC to the State has continued to dwindled for the past four months hence the federal allocation were been complimentary to enhanced payment of salaries in the state.

Reacting to the alleged frozen of the state government accounts by a High Court sitting in Minna following case file instituted against it by some contractors, the Commissioner said only Internal Generated Revenue IGR account that was garnished and had agreed to settle out of court.

Tinau explained that there were two contractors involved in which one was a ‘legacy debt’ who made a supply of motorcycle during the last administration of Dr Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu to the sum of N200 million then, that has raised due to long term interest but have agreed through a committee set up by governor Abubakar Sani Bello to vacate court case for settlement.
