Kano State Inaugurates 14-Member Committee to Review Education Policies

By Aminu Garko

The Kano State Government has inaugurated a 14-member committee to review existing education policies in the state. This move follows the recent declaration of a State of Emergency on Education and the government’s commitment to overhauling the education sector.

The committee, inaugurated by the State Commissioner of Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda, will examine four key policies: Kano State Girls’ Education Policy, Kano State Gender Equity and Social Inclusion Policy, Kano State Non-State School Policy, and Kano State Teacher Development Policy. Their task is to determine whether these policies align with the state’s cultural and religious beliefs, assess their feasibility, and provide recommendations for strengthening the education sector.

The committee, chaired by Malam Abdullahi Muhd Dutse, comprises experts from various fields, including education, law, and community development. They have been given three weeks to submit their report.

Dr. Makoda urged the committee members to leverage their expertise to produce a comprehensive report that will enhance the state’s education sector. The Chairman, Malam Abdullahi Muhammad Dutse, assured the Commissioner of their commitment to working together to deliver a valuable report.
