Gov. Yusuf Commends Sasakawa Africa Association and KSADP for Boosting Food Security

Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State  of Monday praised the Sasakawa Africa Association and the Kano Agro-pastoral Development Project (KSADP) for their significant impact on the lives of Kano residents. 

Yusuf spoke at a high-level workshop on agricultural transformation, in Kano.

The Governor emphasized the importance of sustaining transparent and result-oriented projects to achieve wider impact in the agricultural sector [

The KSADP, funded by the Islamic Development Bank and the Lives and Livelihood Fund, developed agro-pastoral production systems, trained 854 frontline extension personnel, and established 5,348 clusters for grains and vegetables production enhancement.

 The project has also set up 54 agro-processing centers, three parabolic vegetable solar drying centers, and 23 onion solar drying facilities ¹[3).

He explained that key achievements of KSADP, Trained Extension Personnel_: 854 frontline extension personnel trained on various aspects of the value chain.

” Cluster Development_: 5,348 clusters established for grains and vegetables production enhancement, Agro-Processing Centers_: 54 centers set up to boost food production.

” Solar Drying Facilities_: Three parabolic vegetable solar drying centers and 23 onion solar drying facilities established

Dr. Amit Roy, Chairman of Sasakawa Africa Association, highlighted the organization’s 32-year journey in Nigeria, emphasizing the importance of working alongside farmers to ensure food security. 

Country Director Dr. Godwin Atser reiterated SAA’s commitment to fostering innovation and resilience in agriculture using new technologies .
