YOU HAVE MADE US PROUD , OUR KOGUNA.

Three weeks ago, our leader and elder , traditional title holder and proud son of Sabeji made us very proud.
On June 30th , 2026 he completed a very challenging process and navigation of pioneering the setting up of the Department of Mass Communication at Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto , processing and setting up the UDUS Campus Radio 89.7 FM Sokoto and graduating two sets of students with a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication. This is not new. Alh Nasir Danladi Bako, OON has been sponsoring the children of the poor and underprivileged in Sokoto South Local Government and beyond since he was on grade level 10 at NTA Sokoto in 1982. At one time in the nineties he used to sponsor Tafsir preaching of Sheikh Isa Talata Mafara on Rima Radio Sokoto during every Ramadan for about ten years . He ensured that DSTv Multichoice satellite included two Islamic channels on their package, one of which is Islam Channel 347. Our leader Dr Nasir Danladi Bako has personally sponsored as many as 12 people to perform the Holy Pilgrimage in Makkah and Madina between 2000 and 2020. He repaired the mosque near Audu Shugaba’s house in Yan Susu by the Stadium as well as several other mosques.
We are extremely grateful to you our leader. According to the late Ubandoma Tudun Wada Jibo Dalhatu when the Koguna went to check on the health of Ubandoma”s health three years ago, he made the following statement –
“I thank you for what you have done for me and my family. I wish your late father Mallam Tanko who was my best friend and second cousin was alive to see and rejoice with you. Your father passed away at the age of 54. I am 89 years now. So it is Allah’s blessings that has brought you this far. You have carried the heritage of your great grandfather Mallam Nasir who was a Liman here around Sabeji and Yar Goriba. Bello Dan Uwaye’s father was with us as childhood friends. Mallam Jaafar the son of Mallam Nasir and my father who was his friend all lived between Yar Sakke and Sabeji around 1898 when they were about 8 years old as they told us . His father used to teach your grandfather the Quran along with my father Mallam Hayatu and Baba Maidabo. When the British soldiers invaded Sokoto in 1903, Mallam Nasir lost his life defending the Caliphate in the Giginya battle. Mallam Jaafar was later taken by the British as an orphan with the permission of Sultan Attahiru II to Zaria and later Kano along with some dethroned Emirs and later Lokoja which was the headquarters of Northern Nigeria and back to Zaria. They trained him as a clerk , teacher and interpreter and he worked with the District Officers at that time. He came back to Sokoto in 1926 when your father was born. Your character and simplicity as well as vast knowledge of Islam are attributes you inherited from your father and stories about your great grand father, Mallam Nasir.”
We are not surprised at all ,vthat you are following the footsteps of your forefathers in supporting and defending the values of hardwork , selfless service, attendance to the poor and needy as our religion mandates us to do as Muslims.
May Almighty Allah help you carry the burden of doing good to all al’umma and propagating Islam.
