The Etsu Nupe and Chairman of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, has conferred the title of Madakin Raya Kasar Nupe on Senator Mohammed Sani Musa.
The conferment was communicated on Wednesday through a letter delivered to the senator at his Maitama residence by a delegation of the Bida Emirate Council.
The delegation included Ranin Nupe and Secretary of the Bida Emirate Council Alhaji Abdulmalik Usman; Barajen Nupe and Chairman of the Bida Emirate Turbaning Committee Alhaji Kasim Nma Yawa; and Wakilin Labaran Nupe and Secretary of the Turbaning Committee Alhaji Isah Isah.
Speaking for the delegation, Alhaji Kasim Nma Yawa said the senator was found worthy of the title in recognition of his legislative performance, contributions to human capital development, and the historic relationship between the Bida and Minna emirates.
He said the honour would strengthen bonds of friendship, unity and cooperation between the two emirates and their people.
Senator Sani Musa, who represents Niger East and chairs the Senate Committee on Finance, expressed gratitude to the Etsu Nupe for the honour. He also thanked Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago for consenting to the approval.
The senator said he had never opposed development in any part of Niger State and reaffirmed his commitment to working with traditional title holders and stakeholders to attract more development to the Bida Emirate and preserve its cultural heritage.
“I am a Nigerlite first before any other identification,” he said.
Prayers were offered for the continued reign of the Etsu Nupe in good health.
