Mourns

Kano, Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano State has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Dr Musa Labaran, a communication scholar in the Faculty of Communication at Bayero University, Kano.
Labaran died on Sunday after a brief illness.
In a condolence message issued by his spokesman, Sanusi Dawakin-Tofa, Yusuf described Labaran’s death as a painful loss to the academic community, the media profession and society at large.
The governor said Labaran was an accomplished scholar, mentor and intellectual whose contributions to the advancement of communication studies, media scholarship and public discourse would remain invaluable.
He said the deceased dedicated his life to teaching, research and the mentorship of students and professionals, leaving behind a legacy of excellence, integrity and service to humanity.
Yusuf stated that Labaran’s death had created a vacuum in academia and the communication profession, given his commitment to knowledge dissemination and intellectual development.
He prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the deceased’s shortcomings, grant him eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus, and give his family, colleagues, students and loved ones the fortitude to bear the loss.
The governor also extended his condolences to the academic community, media practitioners, friends and associates of the late scholar.
