Prayers
Kano, Gov.Abba Yusuf of Kano State has applauded the National Tijjaniyah Sect for organising special prayers for peace and economic prosperity in Nigeria.
The governor spoke shortly after the Annual Tijjaniyah Zikr and Special Prayers for Nigeria held at the Emir’s Palace in Kano.
This was contained in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin Tofa on Saturday.
Yusuf described the prayer session as timely, saying leaders at all levels require divine guidance to protect lives and property and deliver people-oriented projects.
He told thousands of participants that he had informed President Bola Tinubu about the gathering and that the President expressed delight over the initiative.
According to him, Tinubu wished to attend but could not due to an emergency engagement.
The governor assured the organisers of the state government’s continued support to sustain similar religious gatherings.
He also appreciated the family of Sheikh Ibrahim Nyass for travelling from Senegal to participate, alongside other Islamic scholars from across Nigeria.
Earlier, the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, assured Yusuf of the Tijjaniyah sect’s support and prayers for the success of his administration.
The Emir said members of the sect had been praying for the governor since 2022 in recognition of his commitment to the development of Kano State and Nigeria.
The prayer session lasted more than six hours and ended with prayers for peace, unity and national prosperity
