Kano, The Managing Director of the Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority, Rabiu Suleiman Bichi, on Thursday moved a motion for the adoption of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the sole presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 general election.

Bichi recalled the role of former APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, whose National Working Committee had earlier led efforts to adopt Tinubu as the party’s sole candidate.

He said the process began at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, and was followed by nationwide campaigns across the six geopolitical zones and other engagements.

He noted that Gov. Abba Kabir Yusuf had now led Kano State and other states to reaffirm the endorsement.

The motion, which was seconded by former Secretary to the Kano State Government, Dr. Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, was unanimously adopted by stakeholders of the party at a meeting held at the Coronation Hall, Government House, Kano.

The gathering, described as the first of its kind since the defection of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to the APC, brought together key party leaders and stakeholders across the state.

The forms had earlier been obtained by the Chairman, House Committee on Finance, James Abiodun Faleke.

The meeting further endorsed Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf as the APC’s sole governorship candidate for the 2027 elections. The motion was moved by immediate past state chairman Abdullahi Abbas and seconded by Senator Bello Hayatu Gwarzo.

Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Jibril Ismail Falgore, put the motions to the floor, and they were adopted without opposition.

During the meeting, Governor Yusuf conveyed a message from President Tinubu urging unity among party members in Kano and advising that candidates should emerge through consensus, with primaries conducted only where necessary.

Other stakeholders present at the meeting included former APC National Chairman Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, former Deputy Governor Prof. Hafiz Abubakar, former Minister of State for Housing Abdullahi Tijjani Gwarzo, and members of the National Assembly. Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin and former Governor Ibrahim Shekarau were represented.

Speaking after the meeting, Rabiu Suleiman Bichi expressed confidence that President Tinubu would record a landslide victory in Kano in the 2027 elections, citing what he described as unprecedented unity within the party.

He said the consolidation of key political blocs, including the Ganduje structure, the National Assembly caucus led by Barau Jibrin, and recent defectors from the PDP and NNPP, had strengthened the APC’s position across the state.

Bichi also noted that ongoing federal projects, including the Kano-Maradi rail line and irrigation initiatives under the Hadejia-Jama’are River Basin, alongside key appointments of Kano indigenes, had boosted grassroots support for the President.

He added that with Governor Yusuf’s defection bringing state and federal political structures under one platform, the APC was well positioned to secure a decisive victory in Kano in 2027.
