Kano, The Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority, in collaboration with Kano State Hydropower and Energy Development Company (KHEDCO), will commence a test run of 8 Megawatt turbines at Tiga Dam.
The test run marks a major power generation milestone for Kano State.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Managing Director of Authority Alhaji Rabiu Bichi in Kano on Saturday.
Bichi said that the Authority will commence a test run of its 8 Megawatt turbines at the Tiga Dam Hydroelectric Generation Facility.
He explained that the left side and river bed outlets will be temporarily closed for the technical exercise, but water discharge through the turbines will compensate for the closure, ensuring no downstream shortages.
The authority assures no downstream water shortages as controlled discharge through the 8 Megawatt turbines will compensate for outlet closures.
Water users – farmers, fishermen, and communities – are advised to remain vigilant and report unusual effects to the nearest HJRBD office.
HJRBD remains committed to serving water users responsibly.
