Sokoto Ambassador‑Designate Meets President Tinubu

Abuja, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu received on Thursday a delegation from Sokoto State led by Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko and Governor Ahmed Aliyu, together with the newly‑named ambassador‑designate, Hajiya Kulu Haruna Abubakar. The courtesy visit, held at the State House, was intended to convey Sokoto’s gratitude for Hajiya Kulu’s nomination and to brief the President on preparations for her diplomatic assignment.

The meeting also highlighted the importance of strong representation for Sokoto and the expectations that the state’s envoy will bring dignity and service to the role. The visit follows the recent submission of 65 ambassadorial nominees to the Senate by President Tinubu as part of his broader diplomatic reset and foreign‑policy agenda.

Officials said the Sokoto delegation used the opportunity not only to thank the President but also to stress the need for inclusive representation from all regions of the federation in Nigeria’s diplomatic corps. Observers view the meeting as a signal of the administration’s commitment to maintaining balanced regional representation in the diplomatic service.
