KANO—109 Pilgrims in Kano Receive Excess Refund for 2026 Hajj Exercise

KANO, Dec. 17, 2025 – The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has approved the payment of excess refunds to 109 pilgrims who initially deposited N8,500,000 and N8,440,000 for the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage.
Director‑General of the Board, Alhaji Lamin Rabi’u Danbappa, disclosed this during an interview in his office on Tuesday. He explained that 593 pilgrims had made their deposits before the final Hajj fare was announced and urged the remaining affected pilgrims to collect their balances before the commencement of air‑lifting operations.
On registration, Alhaji Danbappa said 3,607 pilgrims have so far been registered for the 2026 Hajj and that the Board has already paid over N23 billion to the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) on their behalf. He also reminded pilgrims who have not yet submitted their international passports to do so immediately to facilitate timely visa processing.
The Director‑General commended the Kano State Government for its support and contributions to the welfare of pilgrims in the state.
