DEFECTIONS

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano State has denied reports of some members planning to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that neither the state nor national leadership supports such a move.
NNPP State Chairman, Hashim Suleiman Dungurawa, emphasized the party’s unity and commitment to its vision for Kano State and Nigeria, prioritizing sectors like education, agriculture, and economic empowerment.
Dungurawa appealed to members considering defection to remain loyal, citing the party’s people-oriented governance and social justice philosophy.
He dismissed rumors of internal divisions, particularly claims that certain officials are creating a rift between Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, describing these allegations as baseless.
Despite NNPP’s stance, some members have already defected to APC, including Governor Yusuf’s aide, Umar Bala Haruna, and NNPP’s Bichi Ward Organising Secretary, Muhammad Hussaini, who cited Senator Barau Jibrin’s leadership as a reason for joining APC.
