Kano Govt Unveils Plans to Boost Girls’ Education

Kano State Government has unveiled strategic plans to support girls’ education through gender-responsive collaboration and budget allocation.

The State Commissioner of Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda, disclosed this at the 2-day Kano Girls’ Education Summit 2025.

The summit aimed to improve girls’ education in Kano by shaping policies and ensuring proper budget allocation.

Dr. Makoda noted that the state government has allocated 29.79% of its budget to education in 2024 and 31.5% in 2025, with a focus on girls’ education.

Initiatives include repairing 70 girl-child shuttle buses, reviewing the Girl Child Policy, and supporting less privileged girls with conditional cash transfers.
