Kano, Retired Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar, former Nigeria’s Military Head of State has congratulated retired Gen. Yakubu Gowon on his 91st birthday.
Abubakar spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN) in a telephone interview on Monday.
He said, “Warmest congratulations to Gen. Yakubu Gowon on attaining the remarkable milestone of 91 years.
“Sir, your leadership, dedication, and contributions to Nigeria’s development and stability are noteworthy.”
Abubakar described Gowon’s leadership during and after Nigeria’s civil war as pivotal in shaping the nation’s history, saying, ‘the no victor, no vanquished’ policy remains a symbol of unity and healing.”
He extolled Gowon’s unwavering commitment to peace and dialogue across generations, saying that it remained relevant in the contemporary Nigeria.
He said, “Gowon’s legacy as a statesman and unifier, Abubakar continues to inspire leaders.”
Abubakar prayed for Gowon’s continued good health, strength and wisdom, saying that his work reflected dedication to Nigeria’s progress.

” I wish you good health, joy, and continued blessings on this special day and beyond.
” May your wisdom and experience continue to inspire generations.” Abubakar said.
