The Kano State School-Based Management Committee (SBMC) has commended Governor Abba Yusuf for approving the renovation of dilapidated structures at some schools and the establishment of a new primary school in the state.
SBMC Chairman, Tijjani Haladu Baraya, praised the Governor’s commitment to revitalizing the education sector, noting that the renovation of schools such as Government Technical College Dambatta and Government Technical College Ungoggo was timely.
Baraya recalled that the SBMC had previously highlighted the dilapidation of these schools, which required urgent attention beyond the committee’s capacity.
He commended the State Commissioner of Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda, for ensuring that the complaints reached the Governor’s desk and for his leadership style in engaging stakeholders on education development.
The SBMC Chairman expressed satisfaction that the government was taking action and called on parents, community leaders, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to support the state government in providing access to equitable education.
This commendation follows the Kano State Executive Council’s approval of the renovation of several schools, including Government Technical College Dambatta, Government Technical College Ungogo, Government Girls Secondary School Balan, Tsanyawa, and Government Secondary School Guringawa, as well as the establishment of a new primary school in Gishiri-Wuya community, Warawa LGA.
