Kano Govt Approves Over N69bn for Infrastructure, Education, Social Services

Kano, July 11, 2025 – The Kano State Executive Council, under the chairmanship of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved over ₦69 billion for the execution of infrastructure, education, healthcare, energy, and humanitarian support projects.
According to a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the approvals were made during the Council’s 29th meeting on July 9, 2025. Key infrastructure projects include:
Expansion of Katsina Road from Baban Gwari Roundabout to Mil Tara and construction of five reinforced concrete pedestrian bridges, valued at ₦24.7 billion.
Rehabilitation and asphalt overlay of RMK Flyover, IBB Road, Kofar Mazugal Junction, and Katsina Road, with a budget of ₦7.8 billion.
Construction of 10 new concrete pedestrian bridges at strategic locations, worth ₦3.8 billion.
In the education sector, the Council approved, renovation of 13 closed boarding schools at ₦3 billion.
“General renovation of dilapidated structures in several government schools, including Government Technical College Dambatta and Government Technical College Ungogo, totaling over ₦1.2 billion.
Establishment of a new primary school in Gishiri-Wuya community, Warawa LGA, at ₦190 million.
Renovation of the French and Chinese Bilingual Colleges in Kwankwaso, valued at ₦158 million and ₦349 million, respectively.
Health sector interventions include, Counterpart funding of ₦180 million for the Free Maternal, Neonatal, and Child Health program.
” Procurement of a brand-new Toyota Coaster bus for the School of Health Technology, Bebeji, at ₦240 million.
“Operational needs of the Kano Ultra-Modern Specialist Hospital (KUSH) at ₦107 million.
“Counterpart funding for routine immunization for the second quarter of 2025 at ₦344 million.
The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to developing Kano’s infrastructure, promoting inclusive development, and achieving educational excellence.
