Yusuf suspends aid over inflammatory statement

Kano, Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano State has directed the immediate suspension of Ibrahim Rabi’u, a Senior Special Reporter attached to the Ministry of Transportation.
This decision follows Rabi’u’s recent inflammatory comments regarding Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s purported defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
This is contained in a statement issued by his spokesperson Sunusi Dawakin Tofa in Kano on Sunday.
The government has distanced itself from Rabi’u’s claims, stating that his comments were unauthorized and reflect his personal opinion.
Only the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Wayya, and the Director General, Media and Publicity, Sanusi Bature, are authorized to speak on behalf of the government and the governor, respectively.
The government has directed the issuance of query to the suspended aide over his recent inflammatory comment against Sen.Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s purported defection.
The suspension which takes immediate effect was issued by the Secretary to the State Government Alhaji Umar Ibrahim on Saturday.
Dawakin Tofa, the government cautioned all political apointees against unauthorised statements, insisting that any official comment must get clearance.
The Kano State government has distanced itself from the claims made by suspended aide Ibrahim Rabi’u, stating that the statement was authored solely by him and does not reflect the government’s position.
“Any political appointee must get clearance before making public comments on issues that have to do with the position of the government on matters of public importance or of sensitive political decisions”.
The suspension serves as a reminder to all political appointees to obtain clearance before making public statements on sensitive issues or government policies ³.
