The Kano State Ministry of Land and Physical Planning has announced a 60-day extension for the recertification of Certificates of Occupancy (CsofO), with a new deadline of May 30, 2025.
This decision aims to provide more time for landowners who have not yet recertified their titles.
The Commissioner for Lands and Physical Planning, Alhaji Abduljabbar Umar Garko disclosed this while addressing newsmen in Kano on Tuesday.
Garko said that the objectives of the Recertification Exercise
Comprehensive Database was to Create a comprehensive database of land properties across the state, capturing essential information such as land ownership, property utilization, revenue projections and infrastructure availability.
” Land Management System Establish an efficient and transparent land management system in the state.
” Progress and Participation
As of the latest update, 241,025 properties across six metropolitan local government areas have been captured in the database.
The ministry commends the support of critical stakeholders, including:Kano Emirate Council,
Local Government Heads and
Community Leaders.
The Commissioner of Lands and Physical Planning, Alhaji Abduljabbar Umar, urges all landowners to take immediate action and recertify their titles before the new deadline.
He said that failure to comply may result in revocation under the Land Use Act of 1978.
Recertification Fee: N10,000, excluding statutory outstanding debts.
“Publication of Defaulters, Names of defaulters will be published in national dailies and government outlets to encourage compliance.
The Kano State government remains committed to the recertification exercise, ensuring a smooth and efficient process for all stakeholders involved.
