The Kano State Government has called on the public to welcome and support rehabilitated inmates reintegrating into society.
Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Umar Farouq Ibrahim, made this appeal on behalf of Governor Abba Yusuf during a graduation ceremony for 62 inmates at the Medium Security Custodial Center in Kano.
Ibrahim emphasized the need for collective effort to eliminate societal stigma and provide second chances to reformed individuals, ensuring they become productive members of society.
The government assured continued support, including access to the Kano State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KACHMA) for medical needs.
The Nigerian Correctional Service, Kano Command, was praised for its role in rehabilitating inmates through education, skills training and moral guidance.
The government pledged to collaborate with federal authorities to improve custodial center infrastructure, aligning with Governor Yusuf’s agenda for social empowerment and poverty alleviation.
The occasion is not just a graduation, but a celebration of resilience, reform and redemption.
Justice is not only about punishment, but also about restoration and rebuilding lives.” – Alhaji Umar Farouq Ibrahim
