Kano State Education Sector Joint Steering Committee Reviews 2025-2026 Priorities

The Kano State Education Sector Joint Steering Committee convened a two-day meeting in Kaduna to review the 2025-2026 key education priorities. 

The meeting, held on February 22-23, 2025, aimed to align these priorities with the state’s education strategic objectives to achieve better results.

According to Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda, the State Commissioner of Education, the meeting was crucial in reviewing and approving key education priorities, validating work plans, and fostering collaboration among stakeholders. 

The committee discussed critical areas, including the Kano Education Recovery Plan and the implementation of the 14-point Agenda.

Dr. Makoda announced plans to construct 130 new schools across the state through the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project. 

The construction will include 75 Junior Secondary Schools and 55 Senior Secondary Schools. 

The Commissioner also highlighted the state government’s introduction of digital literacy programs to ensure quality education in the state.

The meeting brought together stakeholders, including representatives from the Kano State House of Assembly, Kano Emirate Council, development partners, MDAs, and civil societies. 

The committee’s objectives include sharing insights on the Kano Education Strategic Plan and agreeing on action steps to advance education reforms and implementation.
