KNSG Strengthens Partnership with PLANE to Revitalize Education Sector

By Ahmed Mohammad
The Kano State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with Partnership For Learning For All in Nigeria (PLANE) to transform the state’s education sector. This assurance was given by the State Commissioner of Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda, while receiving a team from the PLANE office in Kano.
Dr. Makoda acknowledged the significant contributions of PLANE’s intervention programs in Kano, which have enhanced the present administration’s efforts to ensure quality education. He emphasized that the state government, under the leadership of Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, will continue to work closely with PLANE to implement new education policies and benefit the people of Kano.
The commissioner praised PLANE’s comprehensive approach to education, noting that their programs have covered almost every aspect of education. He recognized PLANE as a valuable partner in progress, complementing the administration’s efforts to develop the education sector.
Dr. Makoda assured that his ministry will address all demands made by PLANE to achieve better results. He urged PLANE to fully engage with the present administration to provide access to quality education and address the issue of out-of-school children.
Umar Lawan, the state coordinator of PLANE, explained that PLANE is a 7-year project funded by the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) in the UK. The project is divided into three windows to deliver educational support to affected states. Over 8,000 primary school teachers have been trained in Kano, and other intervention programs include book distribution and supporting school-based management committees.
This collaboration is part of the state government’s broader efforts to transform the education sector, as seen in initiatives like the 14 Points Agenda ¹ and the Education Recovery Conference ².
