KNSG Allocates N208.1Bn For School Feeding Programme, Education Sector

Kano,The Kano State Government has earmarked N2,210,000,000 to feed thousands of primary school pupils in the state.

This is part of its efforts to improve nutritional status, learning capacity, and enrollment.

The  Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Alhaji Musa Shanono, disclosed this while presenting the 2025 budget breakdown on Thursday in Kano.

He said that the education sector has received the largest share of the budget, with N205,944,608,720.87 allocated, representing 29 per cent of the total budget size.

He explained that  N4,603,098,664.36  has been earmarked for building of  new classrooms across the state.

Also,  N1,380,973,815.96 for pupils’ furniture in the newly constructed classrooms and

 N1,010,928,516.89 for renovating 100 classrooms across the state.

The commissioner said that about N160,000,000.00  has bern set aside for providing computers and digital gadgets to Model Primary Schools across the state.

He said, ” The total approved recurrent revenue for the 2025 budget stands at N617,037,680,142.00, consisting of N85,863,779,890 Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and N531,173,900,252.00 expected revenues from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC).

” The estimated Capital Receipts for 2025 stand at N73,717,737,521.00, with a Treasury Opening Balance of N29,000,000,000.00.”
