Gov. Yusuf Releases Additional N5 Billion for Pensioners’ Benefits

Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano Stste on Thursday reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare of retirees with the release of N5 billion for the third phase of pension payments.

 This brings the total amount disbursed to N16 billion in 19 months, fulfilling his campaign promise to address the plight of pensioners in the state.

The governor emphasized that the payment is a “moral obligation” and assured pensioners that the funds would be credited directly into their bank accounts to ensure accountability.

Approximately 4,000 state and local government retirees will benefit from this initiative ².

This move is part of Governor Yusuf’s efforts to clear the backlog of pension liabilities inherited from the previous administration.

Yusuf administration has made significant strides in addressing the pension crisis, with a focus on transparency and accountability.

This move has been commended by the Head of Service, Alhaji Abdullahi, and the National President of the Union of Pensioners, Godswil Abumesi ¹.

It’s worth noting that Governor Yusuf’s administration has made significant strides in addressing the pension backlog, which had been pending for eight years. 

The governor’s commitment to improving the welfare of pensioners has been recognized, and his efforts have brought relief to thousands of retirees in the state.
