2027: EFCC to Investigate Kwankwaso Amid Allegations

The presidency has allegedly directed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to probe the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) over campaign funds.
This move is reportedly aimed at crippling the party and silencing its national leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, ahead of the 2027 elections.
The EFCC may attempt to invite Kwankwaso to answer questions about the alleged mismanagement of 2023 campaign funds, despite a court order in June 2024 restraining the agency from doing so.
Insiders claim that Kwankwaso’s recent criticism of President Tinubu’s attempts to dominate the North, as well as his growing political influence, have made him a target for the presidency.
It’s worth noting that similar allegations of campaign fund mismanagement have been leveled against other politicians, including Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party .
