Kano, The Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) has received praise from the Civil Society Situation Room for conducting peaceful and credible local government polls in Kano State.
Mr. Victor Kalu, speaking on behalf of the observers, highlighted the impressive voter turnout, peaceful election conduct, and compliance with movement restriction orders ¹.
Kalu noted that despite the absence of security personnel, the state remained calm, indicating good governance.
He commended the state government, KANSIEC, and its chairman, Prof. Sani Lawal Malumfashi, for the successful election.
The efforts of KAROTA, Hisbah personnel, and Vigilante in maintaining security were also acknowledged.
The Nigerian Democracy Working Group, a coalition of civil society organizations, had earlier urged KANSIEC to ensure credible and transparent local government elections.
This positive assessment from the Civil Society Situation Room suggests that KANSIEC met these expectations.
