Kano Commences Training of 500 Women in Modern Agriculture,

Kano, The French Embassy has partnered with the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) to launch an agribusiness training programme for 500 students at Audu Bako College of Agriculture in Dambatta, Kano State.

This initiative is part of the Women in Agricultural Technical Education and Apprenticeship (WATEA) programme, which aims to empower women, with 80% of participants being female.

The Commissioner for High Education,Dr Yusuf Kofarma  launched the training programme on Monday at Audu Bako College of Agriculture in Dambata.

He said that the exercise is expected to significantly contribute to the development of young women and enhance the socio-economic well-being of society. 

Kofarmata encouraged participants to apply the knowledge gained during the training for future endeavors and become agricultural entrepreneurs.

The Commissioner said that the programme includes collaboration with the French institutional network to modernize agricultural technical education programs and initiate a mobility program for Nigerian teachers and students to travel to France.

He said that this initiative aligns with the Kano State government’s efforts to empower youth, particularly women, to improve their lives
