Bature calls for eradication sickle cell

Malam Sunusi Bature, the spokesperson for the Kano State Governor, has made a powerful commitment to eradicating sickle cell anemia in Kano by 2034.

Speaking at the foundation-laying ceremony of the Sadiq Maddibo Memorial Quranic Centre, he emphasized the need for a robust and strategic plan to prevent the birth of children with sickle cell disease.

Bature’s personal experience with sickle cell disease, having lost a child to the disease, underscores the urgency of this mission. 

He stressed that living with sickle cell is like living on death row, highlighting the need for collective action ¹.
