PDP Lacks Moral Right to Contest LG Election in Sokoto – APC Chairman

By Aminu Garko
The Sokoto State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Isah Sadiq Achida, has stated that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lacks the moral right to contest the upcoming local government elections in the state.
Achida cited the PDP’s poor performance during their eight-year tenure in the state, marked by a lack of meaningful projects and development.
He argued that the PDP’s failure to deliver on their promises has eroded their credibility and legitimacy to participate in the elections.
The APC Chairman also revealed that the PDP had initially planned to contest the elections but later withdrew due to fear of defeat, given the significant achievements of the current APC-led government within just one year.
Achida accused the PDP of attempting to delay the elections by requesting an extension of time from the Sokoto State Independent Electoral Commission (SOSIEC) just three days before the closure of nomination form sales.
He emphasized that the PDP’s actions demonstrate their lack of preparedness and confidence in their ability to win the elections.
Achida concluded that the PDP’s withdrawal from the elections will ultimately lead to their downfall in the state.
