Kano, The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano state has urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate the alleged misappropriation of funds meant for medical supplies in 44 local government areas.

This is contained in a statement, APC Chairman Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas called for the freezing of local government accounts to prevent further misuse of funds.

He criticized Governor Abba Yusuf’s claim of unawareness about the scandal, suggesting a lack of control or leadership capacity.

Abbas also questioned the effectiveness of the state’s Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission in investigating the matter, citing the chairman’s perceived partisanship and lack of power.

He highlighted a series of alleged financial recklessness involving officials of the ruling New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) government, including controversial contracts, diversion of palliatives, and mismanagement of funds.

In response, Commissioner of Information Baba Halilu Dantiye commended the Governor for directing an immediate investigation into the contract for drug supplies.

He assured the people of Kano State that the government is committed to accountability and punishing any misdemeanors and non-compliance with procurement processes in accordance with the law.
