Kano State Assembly Moves to Amend Emirate Councils Bill

By Aminu Garko

The Kano State House of Assembly has adopted a motion to recall the Kano State Emirate Councils Amendment Bill for further deliberations.

This decision was made during a plenary session presided over by Speaker Jibril Falgore on Tuesday in Kano.

Majority Leader Lawan Hussaini (Dala-NNPP) moved the motion of urgent public importance, urging the house to support the motion to move the state forward. The motion was seconded by Shu’aibu Rabi’u (Dawakin-Kudu-NNPP).

In 2019, the state assembly approved the creation of four additional emirate councils, bringing the number of First Class Emirs in the state to five.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that this move aims to address issues related to the emirate councils and ensure the continued progress of the state.
