Kano, The Chairman, Kano State Council of Ulamas, Sheikh Ibrahim Khalil, on Monday urged parents to accord priority attention to the whereabouts of their children so as to curtail the menace of abduction of minors in the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Khalil made the call while commenting on the recent abduction of minors from Kano State to some parts of the country.

He said that taking care of children was not the responsibility of parents alone, but that of the whole community as well, hence people should join efforts to ensure the safety of their children.

“The manner in which our children are being abducted on different occasions and being taken to other parts of the country, their identities and religions being changed is worrisome ,hence the community needs to come together to ensure the safety of the children,” the cleric said.

Khalil said that children were the future leaders of the nation, urging that governments at all levels should intensify efforts at fine-tuning modalities of taking good care of children in the society.
