Gov. Yusuf tasks Information officers on modern facilities

Kano, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, of Kano State has charged information officers to adopt modern techniques of accessing and dissemination of information for the well being of the state.
The Governor Stated this during the opening ceremony of a three-day workshop organized by the Ministry of Information and Internal Affairs for information officers and media aides held at Tahir Hotel Kano.
Represented by his Deputy Governor Alhaji Gwarzo said the people of the state rely on information officer for accurate information on the activities of government.
He explained the Era of Analog system of accessing and dissemination of information is now a history , Digital means of accessing and disseminating of accurate information have taken over , as such information officers should make themselves abreast with how to make effective use of the social media , website , blogs and other platforms to achieve effective service delivery.
Governor Yusuf Charged the participants to always relay the needed information to the general public with expertise and commitment for moving the state to a greater height.
In his remark the commissioner for Information and internal affairs Alhaji Baba Halilu Dantiye said the workshop was targeted at building the capacity of the staff of the ministry aimed at making them to perform their duties optimally.
“the choice of the theme of today’s workshop (Effective Information Dissemination in a Digital Era : The roles of Information Officers )was Deliberate , as we take into cognisance the ever changing developing media and communication landscape worldwide occasioned by the digital revolution , and the need for our information officers to be to fully understand the trend “
He added that the workshop will play a vital role enhancing the communication skills of the information officers for efficient and effective information dissemination.
The Commissioner added that a total of 214 personnel comprising information officers of LGAs and MDA’s, media political appointees , News and Current Affairs Managers and reporters from selected public and private media organizations and other stakeholders were drawn to participate in the training.
The Secretary to the state Government Dr Baffa Bichi, Head of service Alhaji Usman Bala and other senior government officials were among the dignitaries that spoke during the opening ceremony.
