Customs Arrest 2 For Shooting Officer In Jigawa .

Two members of boarder Drill Patrol team have been hounded into custody in connection with the alleged shooting of a senior Customs officer, Muhammad Inuwa Sayyadi last Friday at Garki, Jigawa state.

Although, the Kano/Jigawa Area Command of the Nigerian Customs Service have kept the identity of the suspects from the public, an inside source familiar with the ongoing investigation confirmed that the two suspects include a police, and a customs officers attached to the team.

Boader Drill team usually consist of the police, immigration, and Customs officers deployed for special duties.

Muhammad Inuwa Sayyadi, a Superintendent in the Nigeria Customs Service ran into illegal checkpoint manned by the Boarder Drill team where it was alleged the suspects opened fire on him,and other occupants of the vehicle.

The Spokesperson of Kano/Jigawa Custom Service, SC Nura Said, however, assured the general public that “justice will prevails and is duly served.”

SC Nura Said in a terse statement in response to enquiries by Reporters in Kano over suspected plot to compromised investigations disclosed that “The Nigeria Customs Service re-emphasize it’s determination to conclude the ongoing investigation and ensure that justice prevails and is duly served.”

The reaction by the Customs came amid plan by the victims of the last Friday fatal shooting to seek redress to serve as deterrent to would be trigger happy Officer.

SP Inuwa Sayyadi told newsmen in Kano that he would not let go the provocative assault unpunished, stressing that those who violated professionalism should made to face the music to serve as deterrent.

SP Sayyadi who narrated his ordeal in the hands of his juniors, commended the swiftness on attention to save life by the medical team of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital.

Sayyadi, recalled how he survived for 24 hours bullet lodged on his skull at close range during the attack before it was removed through a procedure at the health facility.

He revealed that “Initially, we thought, it was a robbery operation but when I alighted from the car that was already de-mobised by sporadic gun shots I saw a patrol vehicle with Customs insignia which emboldened me to sought help from them, but unfortunately they took to their heels”
