Presidential Elections: Muslim/Muslim Ticket Victory Shown Clearly Nigerians Shun Religious Politics, DG NOA

The Director General, National Orientation Agency, NOA, Dr Garba Abare, has said that the outcomes of the last Presidential Elections with a Muslim/Muslim Ticket emerging Victorious, has dealt a serious blow to the negative Religious Politics that threatened the foundation of Nigeria Unity.

“The outcomes of the Presidential Elections, clearly shows that soon Nigeria would have a Christian/Christian Ticket which can be easily excell because of the maturity and the decisions of the Citizens to do away with Religious Politics which previously had taken toll on the Nation Politics”.

Dr Garba Abare who was Speaking to a Media Duologue to Present a Report of the General Activities of the Agency and it’s interventions, Before, During and after the 2023 Presidential Elections, on Thursday, said reports from their field officers shows that many actors takes on religious Campaigns to woo their supporters.

“However, what had happened on the outcomes of the elections, is a source of pride that shows gradually Nigeria is coming out of the wood of Religious/Ethnical Politics, these should be sustained”, the DG appealed for.

The DG notes that his Agency had during the last Presidential Elections mobilized over 4000 critical stakeholders to propagate anti electoral violence, voter apathy, electoral corruption and the messages have impacted positively on the conduct of the Presidential Elections.

He said the voters registration recorded of 92 Million during the last has also shown that Nigeria has departed from non participation to full participation in Electioneering processes, because the registration was the biggest in the whole of West African States.

Abare explained that the reports from their Field Officers has not dramatically departed from that of Donor agencies and other Observers during, before and after the election, which was delayed in arrival of Voting Materials, attempt to snatched BVAS and Voters Boxes.

On Religious and Ethnical Politics, the Director General cleared that Nigeria because it is a multifaceted Religious Country, there is little anybody can do completely stopped that, but urged actors to ensure that such should take critical center stages of their Politicking.

“A situation where Nigerians shunned and set aside Characters, Competence and emphasized on pure Religious and Ethnic Politics that situation call for caution and something urgently should be done on that”.

Dr Garba Abare, called on the Nigeria Security to takes serious actions against anybody who is found Inciting Disturbances and violence in the name of Campaigning, reminding that Nigeria is greater than anybody.
