Kolo lauds Kantigi for demonstrating political maturity
Isa Abubakar Minna
Munna, A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress APC in Niger state Alhaji Mohammed Nma Kolo has lauded the show of sportsmanship demonstrated by the People’s Democratic Party PDP governorship candidate in the last election Alhaji Isah Liman Kantigi for calling to congratulating the Governor-Elect Umar Bago.
Alhaji Kolo who was the agent of the APC candidate Hon Umar Mohammed Bago at the governorship collation centre in Minna said it was heartwarming to hear about the call of the PDP candidate Alhaji Kantigi even when the collation was ongoing.
He said the gesture was a rare show of political maturity, that should be emulated by all who believe in the decision of the people through the ballot.
The APC chieftain was optimistic that with that kind of deep spirit of sportsmanship and maturity by Alhaji Kantigi democracy in Nigeria has come of age.
He said there is dignity in the show of support extended to the winner of the election by Kantigi which he assured was well noted by the Governor-Elect for the all-inclusive governance envisaged.
Nma Kolo said thus ” I salute his courage and his commitment to the progress and development of Niger state as enunciated by the Governor-elect and the Governor-elect I am sure appreciates that show of maturity”
He said that the gesture of conceding defeat has breathed fresh air into the polity and has made it more important to work with all Nigerlites by the Governor-elect to achieve the desired goals of good governance.
He observed that a situation where those who lost the elections quickly condemn the process does not augur well for democracy and therefore called on those who lost the last elections to learn political sportsmanship from Alhaji Kantigi.
It will be recalled that Alhaji Kantigi had called the Governor-Elect to congratulate him while collation was ongoing and it was obvious the APC governorship candidate has won.
