Kano, The Deputy Governor of Kano State and All Progressives Congress gubernatorial candidate, Nasiru Gawuna, has said that his destiny is in the hand of Allah.
Gawuna, who made the remark while voting at his Gawuna polling unit on Saturday, expressed confidence that the elections would be peaceful with a full security presence.
“Power comes from God as I always said, and I’m not worried at all because I know God has already destined who is going to win this contest,” he said.
He also expressed satisfaction with the voter turnout noting that as at 8 am, almost all the polling units in Kano are said to have been taken over by voters.
He commended INEC for adequate preparations and quick transportation of election materials to polling stations.
Meanwhile, the New Nigeria People’s Party governorship candidate, Abba Kabir Yusuf had also cast his vote at 033 Balarabe Haladu polling Unit, Diso Chiranchi Ward, Gwale local government area of Kano State.
Quick intervention of security operatives on Saturday saved what would have been a bloody clash between supporters of All Progressives Congress and New Nigeria People’s Party at the Chiranci area of Gwale Local government area of Kano state.
Trouble started in the area which is notorious for thuggery activities when some youths alleged to be supporters of a political party approached a polling unit at 02 ward in the area to cast their votes but were prevented from reaching the polling unit by another group of youths who were said to be supporters of another party.
Irked by the action of the group who prevented the other group, the aggrieved group wanted to cause trouble as a result of which the situation became very tensed.
Some journalists who went to cover the election in the area had to leave the area to avoid possible attack from the thugs who were there to cause trouble.
It was in the process that the security agents arrested a middle aged man with three cutlasses.
As at the time of filling this report normalcy had returned to the area as more security personnel have been deployed to the area.
