Resignation

By Aminu Garko

Hajiya Sa’adatu Salisu Soja, Chairperson of Tudun Wada Local Government, has formally resigned from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP). In her letter dated 23 January 2026.

she explained that her decision was driven by a desire to “follow the footsteps of my leader, His Excellency Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, Executive Governor of Kano State,” and to support his development agenda for the state.

She thanked the party’s leadership and members for their support during her tenure and stated that her resignation was made in good faith, without ill‑will, to align with the governor’s political direction.

This move is seen as part of a broader wave of defections that has weakened NNPP’s influence in Kano, as many officials realign with Governor Yusuf’s emerging political platform.
