Kano, Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano State has expressed profound appreciation to President Bol Tinubu for approving a federal intervention that would complete the Wuju‑Wuju road project at the cost of ₦47 billion.
The commendation is contained in a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature, on Thursday.
Yusuf, who spoke at the 35th Executive Council meeting, recalled that the road was originally initiated by the administration of Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso in 2013 but it was stalled during the eight‑year tenure of the preceding administration.
He said his government, after a careful assessment, sought federal assistance to finish the project.
The request received swift consideration and approval by the Federal Executive Council, which sanctioned ₦47 billion for the multi-purpose road.
The governor described Tinubu’s approval as a clear demonstration of responsive leadership and commitment to infrastructural development, especially in Kano State.
He also acknowledged the pivotal role of the Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations, Hon. Abubakar Bichi, for his consistency, commitment and relentless follow‑up from the National Assembly to the Presidential Villa to secure the project’s approval.
Yusuf said Bichi stood firm from the initial request to the final approval, ensuring that Kano’s interests were fully protected.
He described Bichi as a worthy ambassador of Kano at the National Assembly and urged other federal lawmakers from the state to emulate his dedication, results‑driven representation and patriotism, regardless of party differences.
Yusuf further recognised Bichi’s contributions in facilitating key projects for Kano, including the International Conference Centre along Maiduguri Road and the proposed international‑standard Stadium in Bichi.
He appealed to Tinubu to approve additional mega‑projects for Kano, the most populous state in Nigeria, and reaffirmed his administration’s readiness to partner with the Federal Government to fast‑track sustainable development.
The governor assured the people of the state that his government would continue to pursue strategic collaborations that deliver tangible benefits and lasting infrastructure development across the state
