105 suspects nabbed for alleged armed robbery, other crimes in Kano

Kano, The Kano State Police Command has achieved significant breakthroughs in crime prevention, management, and control, with the arrest of 105 suspects in 30 major cases and the recovery of dangerous weapons.
The command’s Commissioner of Police, Mr Ibrahim Bakori, disclosed this during a press briefing at the Bompai Police Headquarters, Kano on Monday.
He attributed the successes to the command’s community-centered proactive crime prevention strategies and the Operation Kukan Kura initiative, which has been instrumental in curbing all forms of criminal activities and fostering a safer environment for all.
Bakori explained that a total of 105 suspects were arrested, including 17 armed robbery suspects, eight suspected drug dealers, nine suspected motor vehicle thieves, five suspected motorcycle thieves, nine suspected thieves, and 57 suspected thugs.
He added that several weapons were recovered from the suspects, including three AK-47 rifles, three English pistols, three revolver pistols, one locally made AK-47 rifle, one dane gun, two locally made pistols, seven live ammunition, and five empty shells of live ammunition.
Additionally, the police recovered illicit drugs, which included 603 packets of Tramadol Tablets (60,300 pieces, valued at N60,300,000.00) and 6 cartons of Pregabalin Capsules (44,850 pieces, valued at N22,425,000.00).
The CP thanked the people of the state for their invaluable support and cooperation, which had significantly contributed to the command’s achievements.
Bakori reaffirmed the command’s unwavering commitment to its constitutional duties, including the protection of lives and property, maintenance of law and order, and prevention of crimes.
Furthermore, he called on the public to sustain their support by furnishing the Police with credible information.
Bakori said, “The command anticipates a continued partnership with the public and the media in its efforts to create a safer and more secure environment for all residents of Kano State.”
