Yusuf, Receives Multiple Prestigious Awards for Excellence in Leadership, Education

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has been honored with two international awards: New Telegraph’s “Governor of the Year in Educational Development” and African Leadership Magazine’s “Governor of the Year 2024.

” These awards recognize his transformative leadership and commitment to education and infrastructural development.

This is contained in a statement issued by his spokesperson Sunusi Dawakin Tofa in Kano on Tuesday.

A delegation received the awards on the Governor’s behalf in Lagos and Morocco on February 21st and 22nd, 2024. 

The awards were later presented to the Governor at a special event in Kano.

The Governor expressed gratitude to New Telegraph Newspaper and the African Leadership Award selection committee for acknowledging his administration’s strides in governance. 

He congratulated other awardees, including Ugandan Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja and Madagascar’s President Andry Rajoelina.

Governor Yusuf emphasized that these honors reaffirm the significance of his administration’s reforms, particularly in education, which remains crucial for Kano’s socio-economic transformation.

In addition to these awards, the Governor received the title “Garkuwan Mahaddan Alkurani” (Shield of Qur’anic Memorizers) from the Centre for Quranic Recitation of Nigeria. He also received an Award of Recognition and the honorary title “Khadimul Ummah” (Servant of the People) for his compassion and inclusive approach to governance.
