Kano State Government Unveils Plans to Enhance Qur’anic Education System

The Kano State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to improving the Qur’anic education system in the state. According to the State Commissioner of Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda, the government prioritizes providing a conducive learning environment for Qur’anic and Islamiyya schools.
Dr. Makoda emphasized that the current administration has made significant strides in providing infrastructure, integrating Islamiyya, Qur’anic, and Tsangaya education systems, and ensuring access to quality Islamic and Western education.
The Commissioner also expressed support for the forthcoming Qur’anic graduation ceremony of Government Tahfeezul Qur’an Secondary School Kiru, scheduled for February 9, 2025. The ceremony will honor 1,643 students who have memorized the Holy Qur’an between 2019 and 2024.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Alhaji Tajuddeen Gambo, praised Kiru Tahfeezul Qur’an for its contributions to Qur’anic and Islamic education in Kano and Nigeria. He assured that the government would renovate the school’s dilapidated buildings to create a conducive learning environment.
The Principal of Government Tahfeezul Qur’an Secondary School Kiru, Alhaji Mamuda, appreciated the state government’s efforts to renovate the school, which was selected as part of the first batch of schools to be renovated ¹.
