The Northern Youth Assembly (Majalisar Matasan Arewa) has expressed strong disappointment in Hon. Abdulmumini Jibrin, representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency in Kano State, for publicly endorsing the proposed tax reform bill put forth by the Tinubu administration.

In an open letter, the Assembly criticized Jibrin’s support for the bill, citing its potential to undermine the North’s economic and commercial interests.

They argued that the bill would disproportionately affect the economic livelihoods and aspirations of Northern Nigerians, exacerbating existing challenges

The Assembly emphasized that Jibrin’s constituents face these challenges, and his election was meant to address them through effective legislation and advocacy.

Instead, his unwavering enthusiasm for the bill exposes his misguided commitment to protecting the interests of those he represents.

The Northern Youth Assembly urged Jibrin to prioritize alleviating the socio-economic challenges ravaging the North, rather than serving an agenda that could further marginalize the region.

They vowed to fight against the bill, exposing those who would auction the North’s interests for political gains.

The Northern Youth Assembly has been vocal about protecting Northern Nigeria’s interests, previously rejecting calls to relocate the ICT Park from Kano to Kebbi State .
