The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, received a solidarity visit from the Emir of Potiskum in Yobe State, Alhaji Umar Bubaram Ibn Wuriwa Bauya, at his palace on Saturday.

This marks the first visit from a Northern Emir to the palace.

During the visit, the Emir of Potiskum expressed his support for Emir Sanusi II, who also serves as the spiritual leader of the Tijaniyya Sect in Nigeria.

He drew parallels between his own experience 26 years ago and Emir Sanusi’s current situation, saying, “History is repeating itself with your second coming as Emir… with the help of Allah, I was returned and living peacefully with my people.”

The Emir of Potiskum praised Emir Sanusi II as a good leader who prioritizes his people’s needs, adding that he should count on his personal support and that of his people. He also appealed to Emir Sanusi II to support the construction of a Jummaat Mosque at his palace, which has been stalled due to financial difficulties.

“We started building the mosque about three years ago, but it has been delayed due to financial constraints. We hope you will assist us in completing the project,” Alhaji Umar Bauya said.

In response, the Emir of Kano, Khalifa Dr. Muhammad Sanusi II, thanked the Emir of Potiskum for being the first Emir to visit his palace and show solidarity.

He emphasized that this gesture demonstrates the unity and togetherness among traditional leaders, which will positively impact the lives and security of their people.
