Kano, Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano State has inaugurated the distribution of 54,600 bags of rice to cushion the hardships faced by the less-privileged during the forthcoming Ramadan fast.
This is contained in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sanusi Dawakin-Tofa, in Kano on Saturday.
Yusuf described the exercise as a yearly tradition aimed at supporting the residents during the holy month of Ramadan.
He said that the intervention would cover the 44 local government areas and other beneficiaries across the state, with 91 trucks of rice, equivalent to 54,600 bags of 50kg each, to be distributed.
The Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, commended Yusuf for his concern for the plight of the masses, saying that the initiative would significantly reduce anxiety among the residents during the holy month.(
