Kano Govt Commends UNICEF, FCDO for Climate-Resilient Intervention in School, Health Facility”

The Kano State Government has commended UNICEF and the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) for renovating Wangara Primary School and a health facility in Gezawa Local Government Area at a cost of over N200 million.

The project included renovating five blocks of classrooms, constructing two new toilet blocks, and installing a solar-powered borehole with overhead tanks.

The renovation features elevated floor levels, terrazzo flooring, and strategic tree planting.

The State Governor has directed the recruitment of 400 security personnel in each of the 44 local government areas to enhance school safety.

The project is part of the Climate-Resilient Infrastructure for Better Learning (CRIBS) initiative, aimed at ensuring uninterrupted learning despite climate-related disruptions.

The Kano State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda, and other stakeholders praised the development partners for their contributions to improving education in the state.
